A published same-as-home benefit does not establish that your own policy purchased collision, theft or fire coverage. Check the declarations and policy edition.
The border documents
A UK-insured car has the statutory minimum third-party cover in applicable European territories. This does not prove comprehensive own-car benefits.
No Green Card normally required
Valid motor insurance is still required. Carry your certificate and check transit countries.
For UK-registered private cars, generally carry the insurance certificate, licence and vehicle registration papers. Leased and hired cars may need separate permission documents.
- Is my issued LV= policy valid for Ireland, including transit countries and my travel dates?
- Does the actual certificate and schedule include physical damage, fire, theft, recovery, and named drivers abroad?
- Is the foreign-use limit counted per trip, per year or consecutively, and how many days remain?

What this research cannot decide
Claims depend on the vehicle registration, the actual policy schedule, the identity of each driver, the territorial limits, the stated trip dates and modifications. Motorcycles, campervans and hired cars must be checked under their own applicable documents.
If you drive an EV, ask separately about charging equipment, battery damage and recovery after a charging failure. No EV-specific benefit is inferred from these pages.
